Games to destress...

I know that technically I should not be posting anymore posts for this year on my blog (following my tradition of last year) but hey come on, tradition sometimes need to be broken (although some are better if they are kept)...

I've been thinking that I've been an idiot for the last few days (and some of you out there should understand why, but I'm not going to elaborate here and bore you guys out). So, I'm just going to state that I was an idiot for the last few days, and I'm hopeful that my trip out of Singapore might be able to relax me for the next few days before we come back for our days in JC...

Anyhow, I had tried destressing myself over the last few days by playing lots and lots of games on my computer. Basically, I went playing guildwars, CS, pinball, solitaire, hearts etc. and also O2 jam...

After playing this few games for the last few days, I realised a few things:
  1. FPS don't really serve to destress you unless you are really really good at the game and tend to have about 90% of the time shooting people's heads off, or if you are playing with your friend on the same server
  2. RPGs don't really destress you either unless you got a really interesting boss battles (like those in Megaman X series). You get destressed from those interesting boss battles because you feel a sense of achievment when you clear that boss fight. Guildwars don't really destress you because of the dark feeling of the game (especially Nightfall) and the boss battles aren't really exciting...
  3. Com games are boring, except for pinball, where you can train and try to get a ridiculously hard to break high score table ^^
  4. Rhythm games are so far, for me, the best games to destress on...
This is probably because I found myself enjoying myself while I was playing O2jam. O2jam is similar to audition, although I feel that O2jam gives you a greater amount of satisfaction when compared to playing audition. The reasons are very simple.

Firstly, in O2jam, there are definite patterns. What this means is that you can try to learn a freaking hard to master song, and when you finally play it without much trouble, you'll really feel a great sense of achievement bubbling up inside you.
However, in audition, there isn't a fixed pattern, what this means that it is all about reaction time, and there is no way for you to master a single song. I feel that like this, you don't really get any sense of satisfaction easily unless you play it for a really really long time and beat a lot of other people...

I know there isn't really any other points on why O2jam is better then audition because technically audition is better then O2jam both visually and in terms of game managements by the companies, so I'll leave it as that...

But beat-rhythm game really can destress you, especially when you feel that bubbling sense of achievement when you clear that song that you always had had trouble with.

Course, Time Crisis still beats them all in the destressing category...
...once you don't die in prologue(TC4) or stage 1 (TC1,2,3) that is...

Thoughts on Second anniversary

Hey, some of you should have noticed that we just got switched over to the new blogger:beta (which is going to be renamed blogger since it will probably not be staying in beta mode for much longer) Check out the whole new combined recent post and archive section !! Looks slightly more organised, and I might try adding labels when I feel like it ^^

I guess I won't be able to post my anniversary post on the exact date of the anniversary (which is 31/12 for those of you who just joined us on this blog). It's the second year running that I had been unable to do this, and the reason for this is exactly the same as last year. My parents, had once again decided that we needed to go overseas...
Bleh...

Either way, 2 years have passed since I first started to sit in front of my computer and type out posts after posts on my blog. I know my blog still can't match up to those "famous" bloggers out there, and I'm not aiming to be those types of bloggers anyway... but at least I'm glad that there are people out there who do read my blog. I like to thank you all people who had been reading my blog and commenting on them. Comments really give you the feeling that you had made an impact somewhere out there, and its a great feeling to know you had set someone out there thinking...

Also, there has been a rather severe lack of criticism on my blog, in case you people hadn't noticed. This is probably because of a) I'm no longer in council, b) I'm no longer in RV but I'm sticking with c) I realised that typing out criticism after criticism on your blog kind of darkens the world around you. I still type criticism now and then on my blog, but I realised that it makes you feel as though your life is not worth living.
Its got something to do with the fact that by writing it down, you confirm the feeling that something is very wrong about this thing, and after a while, it kind of accumulates and then you find yourself locking yourself in a dark dark room and wishing that the world isn't really as bad as you think it is...

This led me to start typing post that chronicles funny things that had happened in my life, such as the 4AD war (which should still be very fresh in many people's mind) and also dumb posts like the "exciting" bus ride, and the top 100 ways to show that you have a lot of time on your blog... It had served to lighten my mood, and I kind of find myself enjoying every day of my life.

With O levels out of the way, its about time to start a new period of our life. Its time for the leap from secondary schools to JC/poly and I got no idea why, but I feel sad about leaving RV behind. The blogging project left me with a desire to go back to west coast campus and get everyone there as well and go have a walk-a-thon around pandan reservoir. I really want to go back there again and experience the morning breeze blowing at us as we run at the pandan reservoir. Moreover, I think I'll miss all the friends that I had made there, from every level, sec 1,2,3 and 4...

Come to think of it, RV had been quite kind to us. Even though RV has continued changing campuses, I had never failed to get a direct bus from my house to RV. It's just one of the more miraculous things that had happened, and I'm glad that RV had been kind to us even as it moved around from one campus to the next...

Here, I would also like to say good bye to two things that had given me a lot of my inspirations to write. Firstly, the student council and secondly, the school. Without this two organisations, I would not have had so much to talk about on my blog, and if it wasn't for them, this blog would probably not exist. Thanks for giving me the subject matter to write, and I apologise if I had made any unbased comments on this two groups. (I believe most of my comments are based though)

And to end it all off, I like to bring in Yoh Asakura's famous line. And it would be good for all you people out there to believe in as well. It was partly because of shaman king that I had started to see all the jokes in life and to live happily regardless of the situation. Before we say good bye to the year that is about to end, let us all remember that:

Everything will work out in the end

And with that, I wish the blog a happy second anniversary, all you people out there a very merry christmas and a happy new year. Wish everyone here all the best for the new year, and do your best !!
I mean, everything works out in the end right? So, why not do your best in everything?

Posting results

Hey guys!!
Posting results are out and you guys out there should be probably comparing where MOE has posted you all to...

But either way, its time to say hello to National Junior College for me yup!!
Its either by coincidence but I always get my second choice.
For PSLE, RV was the second choice...
For O levels, NJC was the second choice...

Ah who cares, as long as I like the school, what else matters?

See you guys in National Junior College on 3/1/2007
This is getting to be a freaking short post, but I can't get myself to write anymore haha. So I'll just end it off here.

Trip to west coast and commonwealth...

...And we've returned from our blogging project...

Today, as many of you should have known by now, is the date of our blogging project. We did have a bit of a hard time recording down our precise thoughts at the moment because all the thoughts were basically flooding into our brain as though a dam had burst somewhere. So, i
nstead of just copying and pasting what I had wrote down on Microsoft Word during the day, I thought I would go and edit it a bit and add a bit more thoughts as I write this blog.

The day started pretty badly, mainly because of the rain. The three man blogging team, comprising of Yuping, YingTing and me were stranded at jec because of the rain. I was not exactly in the mood to risk the life of my computer and chiong to the bus stop so that we can head off to our first destination. So, we slacked around in jec. We spent some time in the arcade and taking photos of jec, which is an old haunt of RV pupils, while waiting for the rain to die down a bit.

After about half an hour, the rain died down a bit. We decided to take our chances and chiong for the bus stop that will bring us to the west coast campus. Upon reaching the west coast campus, the weather decided that it had relaxed enough and proceeded to bombard us with a greater downpour of rain and winds strong enough to cause passing cars to fly (the above sentence has a 50% chance of containing an exaggeration). We headed for the shelter of the nearby HDB block and waited for the rain to stop attacking us, avoiding flying cars and trees whipped up by the wind along the way...

As we waited in the safety of the HDB block, we glanced at the west coast campus. It has indeed changed a lot. The D&T block and the Art room block has been demolished, replaced with a basketball court. The shed that used to store all the woods for the scouts and guides have been painted white and turned into the power house. Meanwhile, the original power house of RV has been demolished and replaced with the basketball court that we had mentioned earlier. The parade ground where the guides used to build their tents have been replaced with a grassy field, and the few trees that are still standing there are showing signs of gardener Lee sickness (This sickness is caused by lack of care from RV's Gardener Lee). As we continued to walk into the school, we realised that a large part of the school has changed. The garden has been reduced in size, with parts of it having concrete poured over it, and the auditorium has been totally demolished, along with the famous tennis court.

Some things were of course still standing, including the three basketball courts, and of course our dear old sec 2,3 and 4 classrooms. The classrooms though had changed.

As we walked through the school compound, we feel this kind of foreign feeling of the school. Blue and red, as what yuping said, is really RV colours. The blue and yellow colour painted by commonwealth secondary school is totally un-RVish, and I feel myself wishing that we never had to go for any school upgrading. I miss the pandan reservoir, the nice environment, the lack of vehicles, and the great traffic crossing where yuping learned the meaning of "jaywalk"...

I missed it all...

After staying at west coast campus for some time, we set off for commonwealth campus. The rain had decided to stop and we thus had a much easier time making our way all the way to commonwealth campus. The commonwealth campus never changed much. The only major difference is that there was no more RV logos and banners... We managed to get into the school and get a tour of it cause we managed to convince the security guard (thanks to the mighty powers of me)

I don't really feel much while I was at the commonwealth campus though, probably because not much changes has occured to it. Ms Lee should be quite happy to know that her grass revival project had succeded, and LLM should also be pretty excited that her "bio student" incident had left a lasting impression on the grass...

Well, that's about it for the blogging project (darn, it doesn't sound exciting at all ><). Well, it was never supposed to sound exciting anyway, and somehow, most of the feelings that I had were not easy to be put into words... Its all there, you just can't let it out... Wished we were still at west coast though...
