I love missing the last bus...

Graduation night for the sec4s of RVHS is officially over…
And I am on blogger, which can only mean one thing…
That I am going to blog about it... right?
WRONG!!
I mean, sure ya, graduation night had a lot of lame jokes, especially around our tables where the lame jokes were just coming out of everyone’s mouth about once every minutes… and ya, there were lots of funny things happening, and did I mention I went to talk with the SCs a teeny weeny bit too often?

But technically, who cares?

Ok fine, there are people who
will care, but that’s not the point here. Life would be pretty boring if everyone who went to read blogs owned by RV pupils found the same thing over and over and over and over again…instead of doing the normal “blog about the event”, we here will be blogging about the going home part.

After sitting on the MRT train by myself and reaching Bukit Batok Station (apparently, I’m a Loner) I found that the last bus for 173 had left the interchange…

What this means is that I had just missed the last bus home. I’m not so sure about the last bus timing for 176 and I’m in no mood to try. Determined not to call home and plea for help, I decided that it’s finally time to experience what I had always wanted to experience:

Walking home from the bus interchange due to the fact that I had missed the last bus…
Surely it can’t be too bad right?

Well, today, I realised what it means by the advertisement when it says: “I love to miss the last bus”.
Basically, I plugged the mp3 player into my ears and listened to all my songs as I walked home. Of course, I reduced the volume so I can hear what is going on in the surrounding for safety measures and also to listen out for my mobile phone, just in case it rings…
The walk home was rather uneventful… I mean, it’s about 12:15am when I started the walk home, what do you expect can happen? Robbery, molestation…??!? Eh…

Anyway, most of the walk was uneventful, and mind you, it was a really long walk. I had to walk from the station all the way to hillview ave, and then start the long walk past Yu Ping, Nicholas, Ming Le, Yong Xiang, Xiao Bo, Shi Yi, Lian Quan, Shan Mao, Jie Li before I finally reached my house. This group of houses only contains those that are staying in the Hillview Ave area, and does not include the people who are living in the bukit batok region...

As I reached the final stretch before I reached home, I intentionally set the song on my mp3 player to “Tamashii Kanasete”, which is the final ending song of the “Shaman King” anime. The song kind of fit the mood as I started on the final stretch, not because the song is about reaching-home-from-a-long-walk and those sorts of things (in fact, the lyrics don’t even talk about that). Rather, it was because the song is talking about friends and your feelings towards them. You can read the lyrics
here.

As I started walking on the final stretch, I feel this sense that our sec 4 life is unofficially coming to an end. After this, I doubt there would be any more big events where all the sec 4s will come together again (release of O level results doesn’t count and neither does speech day). So with all this in mind, the song fits the mood even more, as we all say good bye to the friends who we knew and grew up with over the last 4 years…

Have to thank those people who sms-ed me as I walked home. Kept me company and at least kinda, reduced my boredom as I walked home listening to songs on my mp3…

Anyway, after finishing the final stretch, there was this great sense of achievement as I walked past the gate. Its hard to explain it, in fact, words can never ever express that sort of feeling, but it was a really great feeling…

And right at the same time, the song came to an end as well…

Oldies... don't exist.

I know I've not been a very great blogger. For one thing, I had yet to completely revamp the blog layout, so the blog still looks like it just came straight out of a blogger template. (In fact, it just comes out from a blogger template. I just spent a bit of time reorganising the link section)...

I'm still waiting for the day where I can transfer this blog over to blogger beta. Apparently, you can edit your template much like the way in dreamweaver in blogger beta. So I decided that I am going to wait until then...

Anyway, updates on the blogging project:
We have largely confirmed the date to be on 7th of December, with a slight possiblity that it will be on the 8th of December.
For those of you out there who still have no idea what this blogging project is about:
Basically, we are going to travel around to all the campuses of RV. From west coast campus to commonwealth campus to Malan campus. While you are there, try and bring something to write on so that you can record your exact feelings at the moment down. Then you can publish it somewhere or you could keep it in a diary and treat it as one of those greatest memories that you had ever had...

Hopefully, we'll have more people coming...

Anyway, I went indulging in what people would call "oldies" again. But, I think there isn't such a thing as oldies. Sure the rhythm is old, the people who sing it are out of the entertainment biz, but the songs they sing, can never ever be replace. Song never ever become oldies because it is unique. Every song is unique.

For example, lets use 吻别. Can you find a song that can totally replace the feelings conjured up by that song alone...? I highly doubt so. Lets use "Leaving on a jet plane" by John Denver as well. Can you replace the sorrow in that song with another song that talks about the same thing. It will be very hard, and if it can, it would most likely be because the lyrics are nearly the same...

So (because I made a promise that I'll start writing short posts), in short, there isn't such a thing as oldies. All songs are unique and all songs convey a feeling that will probably not be that easy to duplicate. Some songs will always stay fresh in some people's mind, because their life experiences matches the lyrics of the song.
(I think I have serious run-on sentences above)

So ya, there is nothing wrong to listen to oldies, its just that those songs have this feeling and you can hardly ever duplicate it with a newer song. The rhythm, the feelings, the beats. Its all unique to a song. So, learn to listen too all types of songs in the world.

State of the holidays/blogging project

I know I have not been blogging for some time, and most of you out there should probably remember the period of time during the O levels where I went crazy with blogging (Check the post that starts with the title, post during O-levels) and you'll get the idea...

Anyway, with this post, it should be good to know that novemeber is coming to an end, and boy am I bored...
It feels as though something very important is missing, and you can all guess what it is, its the holiday homework. Life just suddenly feels very empty suddenly. Last time during the holidays, you had to worry about completing the holiday homework on time, and it kinda gives you the push to get everything done as quickly as possible so that you get to enjoy the holiday for as long as possible...

But now, without a single piece of holiday homework, the holiday feels a bit...unbearable...
As in unbearable, absolutely nothing to do, nothing to worry about (ok, I must be joking for this point), but nothing to do is definitely correct...

Besides, I can't find anything to comment/criticise on, which is supposed to be a good thing. What with me out of council, I feel as though I don't need to worry about so much things anymore.
Hearing what those sc say to me leave me wondering whether or not councillors nowadays are thinking too much... For example, you could rant on an issue on and on and on and on, and then, at the end of the whole thing, I will say one thing to sum up the whole problem that have just been presented :"Don't you all think that you all see too much into people's action that does not have any effect on you......."

I mean, I'm so bored I find interest in visiting shopping malls and go from shop to shop going window shopping... This is called window shopping... I even went so crazy I went to start playing guildwars on the net...

Note to all guildwar players out there: I'm so bored, some of you want to meet someday and go adventuring together? Anyway, I'm playing nightfalls only, so heh, you'll have to visit that place to find me ^^

Anyway, because of the sheer boredom that I think most of the sec4s have chalked up by now, and probably by the rest of the RV population who had finished their holiday homework (which should be pathetically little) I thought we could have a blogging project(ok, it can also be called the "remind-yourself-of-the-past" project). Basically the idea is that we all meet up somewhere and head to west coast campus, following that, we can slack there a bit and go to commonwealth campus before going to malan campus. The idea is to revisit those places and try to relive a bit of those memories we had left behind.

And as we do so, some of us might be able to bring along something to write down your thoughts on the way and perhaps post a blog or something like that. The idea is that we want to capture the moment, the exact feelings that you have at the moment, so you basically just write whatever you feel like once you reach that place...

If you are interested, please note that you better be a member of the rv community, regardless of whether past, present, (or future) and please tell us that you are coming along by leaving a comment in the comments section stating that you want to come along. Also, state the dates that you will be free/occupied so that we can decide on a probable date. If I have your contact, I'll contact you once I have set a date, if not you can always check back here...

Hope to see you people there, currently got 2 people definitely coming, and one is maybe. Lets make this a big one shall we?

The LINK section is b-a-c-k...

As most of you should have noticed by now (as if you can never ever notice it) I just sort of added the removed-don't-know-how-many-years-ago links section back. Treat it as a early 2nd anniversary from me to the blog. It is in serious need of changing some of the front page...

Either way, as you all can see, there are certain sections in this group of links. First of, we have the group blogs section. For the group blogs, I just link the blogs that are still active or are probably still being maintained and visited to a small extent. So we have the 4D class blog and the 1D class blog...

Anyway, as you can see, the rest of the blogs have been divided into two sections, blogs you should read and other blogs. Not that I am biased or prejudiced, but blogs that you should read are blogs that most people can read and won't suffer from traumatising headache due to paragraphing issues and the like. This blogs also occasionally talks about issues that are not very private so that you could guess what they are talking about. Either way, I want to try out templating when beta becomes official and I can just transfer over, so we'll just stick with this for the time being.

Special mention for that section:
Liyan's blog is no longer active and will probably never ever become active again. Either way, his blog is still around and his archive are still there. His impact on the school was "amazing" (to a certain extent)(amazing is classified by many people in many different ways). Also, you all should check the post that started a comments war on his blog. Either way, his criticism of the sc, some of which might still be relevant, is still found there. Generally materials for you all to read. However, I think commenting on any of his post would be a waste of time.

Yong Hao's (aka Shadowkat) blog is still active although he tends to post at irregular intervals, which can stretch between about 1 week to over 3 months. Generally, his blogging frequency is indirectly proportional to the length of time he is playing his computer. Either way, his blog is telling a story about a land called Pingasore, in a world called Erath. (as if anyone can't see through the anagrams)... His blog points out the stupidity in certain issues and make it plain through his use of -anyone can decipher at a glance- anagram.

These two blogs deserve honourable mention.
Well then, to all you people who run around reading blogs and always complain that I don't have a link section. Please do "click" on those links and start reading around.

Good bye Good bye Good bye

... And this post marks the end of the "Post during O-levels" series...
Did I mention that this post marks the end of the "Post during O-levels" series??
Did I?
Of course I did, today marks the OFFICIAL END of the O LEVELS for the people in school who take SSGBIO...

Which means... there isn't any more sense to say that this post is posted during the O levels. I mean, its all OVER!!
OVER I SAY.. OVER...

Anyway, I was freaking scared that blogger will label my blog as a spam blog due to my last post, which basically just copied and pasted one phrase. Congratulations for my great idea...
Anyhow, the O levels are... weird... Weird because its like its nothing compared to our prelims, where we nearly died trying to complete it...

But whatever, I am not going to comment too much on it until I get my results backs...
Anyway, because of the LONG holiday coming up that has no holiday homework or what not, there is going to be a lot of things to do before we move off to the new year. This includes the blogging project that I've been thinking through for some time, and also the addition of the links section that I've been considering for the past three months or so...

So expect things to come up on this rather pathetic looking blog...
Did I say pathetic?

Post during O-levels (VI)

The sixth post during O levels...
I think I can imagine myself having so much things to talk about during O levels...

After going through the exam for one whole week, I got no idea why, and some of you might think I am crazy after reading this, but I wished the O levels don't end so soon. Like, make it longer or let the exams be a longer thing. I think I might live to regret it if it was really longer, but for some weird innate reasons that I cannot really explain out, I wished that I needed to study a bit more, and have more "fun" with the papers we had...

Ok, I assure you that I am going crazy. Its probably got someting to do with the fact that the papers on thursday was darn exciting and required you to think on the spot and produce an answer at the speed of light...

Anyhow, cause I don't want to get spammed by people saying that
-I am crazy
-That they are wishing that O levels are ending soon and not the other way around
-Or they have the same feelings as me...
Lets not talk about this topic shall we.

Anyway, have you ever brooded over your papers after you done them. If so, stop. Its stupid and it gets you tensed up for your next few paper. It could be nothing is wrong with the paper that you had done and you are just imagining it. This could seriously affect your other papers and this will overall affect your results...
So, don't go think about it. Just like talk about it for a minute or so and then stop.

I mean, you could always quote from Cowboy Bebop and Shaman King:
"Whatever happens, happens...but everything will work out in the end"
So don't brood over the papers, it'll just get worse.

Post during O-levels (V)

Wow, we're onto the 5th part of the posts during O levels.

I realised I've been blogging rather frequently over the last few days, but this is mostly due to the fact that we are currently celebrating the unofficial end of the O levels.
I mean, with the end of biology and geography, the two most killer subjects, how bad can the rest of the O levels be?

Ok, it can get very very bad. We got Physics, Chemistry and A math left.
To me, these three subjects are not fully content based subject, in that you apply what you learn instead of just regurgitating things that you read from your book. For example, in biology exam, this line should be quite familiar:

During inhalation, the external intercostal muscles contract while the internal intercostal muscles relax. This causes the ribs to swing upwards and outwards. This increases the dorsoventral diameter of the thoraic cavity. The diaphragm contracts and becomes flatter, this increases the volume of the thoraic cavity. The air in the alveoli expands, thus the air pressure in the lungs is lower then the air pressure of the atmospheric air outside the body. Thus, air is sucked into the lungs until the air pressure in the lungs and the air pressire outside the body is the same...
I mean, we tend to copy wholesale in biology exams...

Geography exams have a nasty tendancy to shock you with the fact that you simply do not have the time to write down and explain all your points fully...

Physics, Chemistry and A math is less content based in that you are applying what you have learnt. This means you can prepare for this exams simply by doing tons and tons of past year exams paper.
So, lets make the last push and do our best for the O levels...

Post during O-levels (IV)

We're officially onto the fourth post during the O levels. Can't really imagine myself being so talkative and so chatty during a time like this.... (Ok, I can, but that's beside the point...)

Anyway, today officially marks the period of time where we are exactly half-way through the O levels in terms of papers left. As of today, we, the people in class 4D who takes SSGBIO has completed 10 out of our 20 papers as indicated on our entry proof...

So, the good news is we are half way through our papers, the bad news is that we have ten more papers to go.
Anyway, the reason why I am posting a post, other then the fact that we are half-way through all the papers, is that tomorrow is the day of the GOD-LIKE papers.

(I tried embedding the GODLIKE sfx from DoTA into here, but I decided to focus more on my studies rather then my computer)

Tomorrow, through a freakish turn of unfortunate events, the class 4D will be seating through 3 papers, all of them content-based. Biology paper 1 and 2, and Elective Geography Paper 2. Imagine the amount of books the whole class will be eating today as they prepare for the battle of the century tomorrow...

Just Imagine...
Do your best!! (Study for those who are studying, imagine for those who are trying their best to imagine.)

Post during O-levels (III)

I knew I would not be able to resist posting something on the last day of revision for O-levels before it actually starts. I mean, the day before prelim start I went crazy and posted the "Top 100 ways to show that you have a lot of time on your hands"...

So, I guess its just how I do things.

Somehow, I feel that I haven't done enough for my revision. There's always this nagging doubt in your brain that you had not done enough and somehow, you'll not be able to do well in your O-levels. I feel that its got something to do with worrying. We all worry a lot, so I guess we all should be having this nagging doubt in our brain that we will not be able to do well for our O-levels...

Anyway, I know I made a huge mistake on Friday. Remember I said that with the official end of the shaman king anime on Arts Central, I would be able to fully focus on my exams...?

Well, friday marked the official starting of a new anime called "Get Backers" which I found interesting mainly because of the characters...Which means I'm stuck to the next anime and am not going to be able to get anywhere with my late-night revisions from wednesday to friday...

Anyhow, with the official start of the mad rush to the end of the O-levels, our small little blog site will have a sort of mini countdown to the end of it all. Unfortunately, this countdown will be based on the 4D class timing, which ends on the 16/11, about a day earlier then the rest of the school.

So, to all you other people out there, don't forget to add a day to the countdown, or you'll find yourself in a mini-relaxing mood when you shouldn't be...
We'll try to update the count everyday on this post, so you won't see multiple one sentence post.
Also, if there is another post during O-levels that appears, we'll shift the count foward to that post, meaning this area will become empty.

[The count has been moved]

For those A-level people out there, do your best. Maybe our exams might even end on the same day.

Post during O-levels (II)

I got this feeling that I would not just post one post during O levels. Its sort of like this feeling that everytime the exams come near, I would have lots of things to write on blogger.

Hello friday, the end of the week where I managed to get all the rest I need. Thankfully, my flu cleared up, which means I should be able to handle whatever the exam is going to throw at me next week.

Next week marks the start of the final/mad rush all the way to the end of the exams, with exams almost everyday.
Looking at the exam schedule now, I don't feel much of the fear of having two papers on the same day, it's like so ordinary. I mean, how bad can geography, biology, biology be...?

Well, its meant to be very bad, but I got this weird feeling that I have eaten the biology book, and I only need to start the digestion for geography... Perhaps during the bio exam, I could regurgitate my biology book out from my stomach...

And if that happens, pigs will fly and the sun will definitely, without fail, rise from the west...

Of course, you have to really thank arts central. Either its coincidence, or arts central really planned it. They managed to end the whole series of "Shaman King" yesterday. Which means I got to watch every single episode of shaman king without a lot of interference to my exams. Very nice timing. Finish shaman king, start exams.
Keeps you focused on what you should be doing now.

The revision over the last few days are only slightly productive to say the least. Mainly because my guidelines are still based on my performance when I went back to school everyday over the last two weeks or so. So, if I did about the same thing when I am in school, I should still be productive, at least, according to my standards.

Everything is coming to an end, its just two more weeks...
Do your best everybody!!
